Another year is in the books! Yesterday, the technology team put the final touches on our 1,500 student MacBook airs for 2014-15 school year. It’s an amazing process to watch unfold. We started having conversations about in-take in April – re-visiting our notes from last summer. In early May, we engaged with the administrative teams at Prairie Point and Prairie High School to share our thinking and to gather their in put on how to make this a smooth and efficient process. While there’s always room to get better, this year was remarkably well.

We collected our first computer on 5/19 (the graduating seniors) and our last day of in-take was Friday, June 6th. The vast majority of the computers, well over a thousand, came in that last week of school. Unbelievably, all the computers have already been re-inventoried, cleaned, re-imaged (a completely new load of software), and re-signed to students by their 2014-15 homerooms. We do have a few repairs to do. We’ll do these as “filler” jobs over the summer between other big projects. But, short of that, we are ready to hand out computers in the fall. This is a remarkable accomplishment! To track, touch, and organize 1,500 computers in six working days is an unbelievable task.  Angela, Charlie, Chris, Collin, and Sam have done just an incredible, thorough, and thoughtful job with this process. Prairie is so fortunate to have such a talented team working on this.  We also could not have been this efficient without help from our administrative partners at Point and PHS. So, thank you to Mr. Anderson, Mr. Fritz, Mr. Leytem, and Mr. Kopppen.
