Digital Literacy: Support — Introducing Nicole Barth

Nicole Barth

As almost everyone at Prairie now knows, Joan Felton resigned last month.  She decided she needed to spend more time with her family — a great goal.  While we were all very sad to see Joan go, we started looking to fill the position right away.  During out posting period we had applications from several strong candidates.  But, no one was better than Nicole Barth.

Many of you may know Nicole from her substitute teaching experience on campus.  She’s had long terms jobs at Creek and at Prairie Ridge. I had seen Nicole at Prairie a few times, but what I did not know was that in addition to having a degree in elementary education, she also has B.S. in computer science.  Given that she deeply understands the education process, has an extensive technical background, and has first hand experience with Prairie, it’s hard to imagine a stronger match for our position.  I was thrilled when she accepted our offer last week.

Here are a few of Nicole’s thoughts on joining the Prairie technology team:

Having the opportunity to be in the Prairie District as a guest teacher,  is something I have enjoyed tremendously. When I was asked to join the technology team, I was very excited because it gave me the opportunity to combine my two passions; education and technology! The technology direction the district is taking is one I am very excited about and look forward to supporting.

Nicole’s first day was Monday, May 7th.  She will be in training with the rest of the technology team over most of the next couple of weeks.  However, if you see her out and about campus, please give her a warm welcome.
