If you are a Twitter user, you can now follow the CCSD Technology Department and get real-time updates on any technology related issues. We’ve setup @CCSDTechAlert as an account that will post news on any outages or disruptions to Prairie technology as we become aware of them. I would encourage all staff who use Twitter to follow this account.
Here’s how we envision it working… Angela will post updates on any “system” related technology problems. She will also post resolutions or “all clear” messages, too. We devised this system based upon a couple of improvement suggestions we got from the survey results last week. Twitter provides us with a very concise method of sharing information – a maximum of 140 characters. We hope this will give us another way (besides email) to get information out quickly, too. We like Twitter for this because it will allow us to communicate when our email servers are problematic or even when the entirety of the network has been impacted. Just check your Twitter feed on your smart phone to see what’s happening… We will also be including the hashtag “#ccsdtechalert” with each tweet, so you can search for that as well if you miss the update in your feed.
This account will only be used to provide information on emergent technology problems at Prairie. For ideas on best practice or other digital literacy resources, I would encourage all Prairie staff to follow my professional Twitter account, @crbarnum for this type of content.
