In my last post, it was pretty clear that a disproportional number of the help desk tickets we created last year were related to power adapters. From an operational stand point, our 1 to 1 laptop efforts were really successful last year. But, we can really improve our management of power adapters. So, my team spent a lot of time at the end of the school year and over the summer brainstorming ways to improve this aspect of our implementation.
So, we devised a single sheet (front and back)PDF (linked above) that contains a lot of information regarding power cords: why they are so difficult to track, why we charge so much for them, and what students can do to prevent problems. I’m asking all staff who work with students using MacBook Airs to become familiar with the contents of this document. Getting this information out to students and parents should really reduce the number questions and hopefully, the number of power adapter help desk tickets next year. As always, drop me a note, give me a call, or post a comment if you have questions.
